Barkitecture

For more than 40 years the Mid-Missouri Chapter of AIA has worked together with the community to inspire the creation of a valuable, healthy, secure and more sustainable built environment for our two-legged brethren.
But what about our best friends? Shouldn't the mission of our profession strive to include our four
legged companions, to protect and enhance their world too?
AIA Mid-Missouri is proud to be an integral part of BARKITECTURE in support of the Central Missouri Humane
Society. We applaud those teams who have taken the lead in this effort and encourage you to be a part of
the design solution too. WOOF!
Our inaugural competition in 2011, sponsored by our local Committee on the Environment (COTE), saw the custom design and construction of seven amazing dog houses by local architects and students. After they were displayed in the courthouse plaza, the houses were auctioned and the entire proceeds were donated to the Central Misouri Humane Society.
