Emeritus
Architects who have been members of the AIA for 15 consecutive years, reached the age of
70 and are fully retired, or are incapacitated and unable to work in the architectural
profession are eligible for Emeritus status.  To apply, begin by contacting your local
component. Your retirement status is verified and the component sends your application
to AIA National. When the application is approved, National will notify both the member
and the component. Waivers can be requested for the age and/or length of membership
requirements.
